Song started summer 2019-recorded summer 2021
Little Girls, Little Girls was inspired and created for my first 2 grandchildren. Audrey and Marion. The song itself is a hope for their lives and even bigger a rally cry for all girls everywhere. At the time this simple song was conceived the world was in the midst of the “Me-Too” movement. Women everywhere were standing-up and claiming our unique voices and stories. We have a long way to go. We are swimming upstream in a mighty ocean of historical patriarchy. Every day is a battle of recognition and a scream for equality.
We have knit our Pussy Hats. We have marched with dignity and non-violence. We are cracking glass ceilings. We are trying to break a cycle of male dominance.
All girls, at all ages, everywhere need to believe that their voices are important and should be heard.
Oo, Oo, Oo, Oo, Oo, Oo, Oo, Oo, Oo, Oo, Oo, Oo, Oo
Little Girls, little Girls You have so much to do Running and jumping and hiding to, Go climb a tree, dance on your toes Sing out, sing strong and always be heard Your voice is your power So never let go The story within you will grow and grow You’re strong and you’re mighty Use all that you have Remember that kindness is never a fad. Your grounded in love, remember that too Find the people, who believe in you The world is your oyster Now go catch a dream Little Girls, Little Girls ride on that beam
